"If you were to ask him what his most prized accomplishments were while on the GCA Board, his answer would be the creation and establishment of the GCA Trades Academy"
2017 CHAMPION OF GCA AWARD
The "Champion of GCA" Award recognizes those individuals who have championed Guam Contractor's Association (GCA) within their company, other civic and professional organizations and to the general public. This year's award goes to John Robertson, who has played an active role in GCA since May 2000.
If you were to ask him what his most prized accomplishments were while on the GCA Board, his answer would be the creation and establishment of the GCA Trades Academy, of which he is a founding member and sponsor, and currently the chairman of the GCA Trades Academy Board of Trustees.
John was responsible for updating and revising the GCA by-laws to be consistent with that of the national affiliate, the Associated Builders Contractors Inc. He was instrumental in coordinating meetings between NAVFAC Marianas leadership and general contractors on matters that helped foster best practices and contract management policies.
John took the lead role in matters involving the military build-up, including issues such as project labor requirements, base access and security, more recently the increase in the H2B denial rate.
He continues to be a contributing writer for the Construction News Bulletin, in his role as Government, Military and Labor Relations committee chairman and representative of SAME Guam Post.
