Amorient has been involved in several renewable energy projects on Guam and Saipan, as a consultant for Latte Stone Solar, Pacific Solar & Photovoltaics. Our engineering department faces challenges related to the tropical climate and building structure when designing solar framing for rooftop arrays.
The primary design consideration on Guam is wind, as the Tropical Energy Code stipulates a 170 mph wind loading for framing. While sun strength and monsoon rain are not factors in structural calculations, they can cause rooftop cracking and influences anchor rod placement. End users include the military, commercial and education sector clients.
